About our Speaker

Bobbie Jo Yokley came to Cumberland Heights as a patient on December 5, 2001. After successfully completing inpatient treatment, she began her recovery process, attending two to three AA meetings per day at the Thirteenth Street Clubhouse in Bowling Green, KY, her home state. She attained a sponsor and began working the 12-Steps and her last drink to date was May 9, 2002.
In the fall of 2003, she returned to Western Kentucky University pursuing a degree in Social Work in order to couple her experience, strength and hope with an education to better enable her to be of service to others. She worked part-time at Guesthouse Recovery Center in Admissions from November 2003 to November 2004 in Bowling Green, KY. Once being accepted into the social work program, she worked at Barren River Area Safe Space in Bowling Green as a Crisis Intervention Advocate at the domestic violence shelter. She completed her internship at LifeSkills, Inc. from December 2006 through August 2007 and also worked full-time as a Resident Assistant and Clinical Support Technician. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work on August 10, 2007 and began her employment in the Admission’s Department at Cumberland Heights on August 13, 2007.
Bobbie Jo began her employment at Cumberland Heights as an Associate Admissions Counselor for two years, before passing the social work licensing exam in March 2009. She then accepted a position in the Women’s Program for one year as a Case Manager, until she accepted an Admissions Coordinator position back in the Admissions Department in July 2010, where she remains to date.
Bobbie Jo’s journey into recovery began at the doors of Cumberland Heights and because of that gift and beginning, she has been afforded a life full of blessings and is honored to share those with others.
